Sewing Machine Pin Cushion

What you will need

  • 2 pieces of fabric 3″ x 5″ (you may need to alter the fabric size, depending on the size of your machine.)
  • Pins
  • Elastic
  • Needle & thread
  • Polyester filling/ Toy stuffing

The 2 pieces of fabric I have used are 3″ x 5″. Measure your sewing machine to see if you need them to be smaller or larger. The amount of elastic you will need will also depend on the size of your machine. Hold the elastic around you machine and cut slightly shorter to allow for the pin cushion to fit snuggly.

Put both pieces of fabric right sides together. Pin each end of the elastic to the short sides of the fabric. Make sure you don’t catch the elastic in any other side of the fabric when you sew them together. Leave a small gap at the top or bottom to be able to turn in the right way.

It should look like this once sewn. Now turn inside out.

Now you need to stuff it with polyester filling.

Now it is stuffed you need to use a ladder stitch/ invisible stitch to close up the gap.

You’re finished!!! Just slip it onto your sewing machine and there will be no more pins all over the place or falling onto the floor.
